Training Blog Week 4-5 Mar11
Published by
Well, couple weeks since I got to update this. My opening trail race for the year was rained out by a 7hr thunderstorm dumping several inches of rain and dropping temperatures into the upper 30s. So no McKay Hollow madness which sucks cause I was really looking forward to getting some pictures/video to put up here on my profile. Anyway, did get to run a fast 5k at Mississippi State this past Friday and finished with a reasonable 15:56. The best part was pulling one of my athletes through his first sub-16 5k - congratulations Dante Dorsey! For me I was trying to negative split the race but after starting with a very comfortable 4:57 I was alone. It was a small field with large gaps and after trying to fight it out on my own for a few laps, Dante closed back in on me and we stayed together through the end. The next race will probably be at the Vanderbilt Twilight meet although I may jump into a local road race - we'll see. On the training front I'm just hanging around 60 mi a week and after these couple races I'm getting really excited to hit the milage and the trails this summer! |
